Frequently Asked Question

16. What are the requirements for importing dietary supplements?

Nutritional substances in pharmaceutical forms are considered complementary medicines and as such should be approved by the Authority prior to importation. Some fortified foods such as meal replacements are currently not regulated by the Authority. If in doubt customers are encouraged to seek clearance from the MCAZ before dealing in these products.

Importation of approved complementary medicines is done under the provisions of Statutory Instrument 57 of 2008
